Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD

Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD Review

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD is a 5.9-inch smartphone with a taller, 2:1 screen that feels manageably big. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and sports a dual main camera system with a 2-megapixel secondary camera.

It has an octa-core Kirin 659 processor and 4GB of RAM. It’s a good choice for those looking for an inexpensive, mid-range smartphone.

Screen

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD is an interesting mid-range device that has a few key features that aren’t seen in many other budget phones. It has a 5.9 inch 2:1 IPS screen, a dual-camera system and a 3340 mAh battery.

The display is one of the main reasons the Mate 10 Lite stands out from the rest of the mid-range phones. The IPS display is bright enough to use even in sunny conditions and the resolution is high enough to show all of your images with clarity.

While the Mate 10 Lite doesn’t feature the same processor as the flagship models, it is still quite powerful. It is powered by a 2.36 GHz Kirin 659 processor with Mali T830 MP2 GPU and it’s paired with 4 GB of RAM.

This is a bit below the performance of the Mate 10 Pro, but the Lite’s 3340 mAh battery is more than enough to keep it going for a day. It also has a dedicated card slot for microSD cards, which can take up to 128 GB of additional storage.

It’s worth noting that the Lite isn’t IP-certified for dust and water resistance, but the case is made from aluminum so it does feel sturdy. It’s slightly curved around the sides and has physical volume and power buttons on the right side.

Aside from the dual cameras, the Mate 10 Lite’s other major highlight is its screen. Its 2.160 x 1.080-pixel resolution makes it one of the sharpest screens I’ve ever used. It’s also pretty thin, measuring 7.3mm, so it’s a fairly manageable size in the hand.

The Lite’s display is not as bright as AMOLED displays, but it’s clear and vibrant. The Lite’s 18.9 aspect ratio and 5.9-inch screen give it a very taller appearance than most of its rivals, which makes it more likely to grab your attention. It’s a nice addition to the Huawei lineup and it makes the Mate 10 Lite an easy choice for anyone who wants a phone with a great display.

Camera

Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD is the world’s first smartphone with four cameras on both the front and rear. At the back, you’ll find a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 lens and phase-detection autofocus, plus a 2MP depth sensor for bokeh effects. The front camera is also a dual-camera setup, consisting of a 13MP lens with f/2.0 aperture and a second 2MP depth sensor for portrait mode.

The photos taken with the Mate 10 Lite’s four-camera configuration are decent, but they’re nowhere near as good as those from its higher-end predecessors. They look very sharp in perfect light and lack detail in the dark, especially at the edges.

If you want to get the most out of your pictures, you should use the HDR feature in the camera app. But, unlike the iPhone X or Google Pixel 2, there’s no way to switch on HDR automatically when you take a photo in regular or pro mode.

Fortunately, the camera app on the Mate 10 Lite is quite versatile, offering a variety of shooting modes that can be selected from the settings menu. You can adjust the shutter speed, ISO, white balance and even choose a specific filter to add or remove a bit of extra depth information to your shots.

However, the quality of your photographs is still going to be poor. The bokeh effect isn’t as accurate as you would expect and your subject’s face tends to get blurry, even when the software tries to soften it up.

Overall, the Huawei Mate 10 Lite is a good choice for people who enjoy taking photos and watching movies on a large screen. It’s also a good choice for mobile gamers, since it’s more powerful than many of its competitors.

The Mate 10 Lite is available for $380, making it a great option for people who are looking for a high-end smartphone without breaking the Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD bank. Despite its low price, this phone is a solid performer that doesn’t feel sluggish while browsing Facebook or sending emails. In fact, it’s snappy enough to play Sonic Dash, a 3D game that requires some serious muscle memory.

Battery

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD is an amazing smartphone that has a lot of great features and is packed with power. Its battery capacity is also impressive and will last you a long time between charges.

The battery is a non-removable 3340 mAh unit and according to Huawei should take around 150 minutes to charge. It offers up to 20 hours of talk time and up to 30 hours of stand-by.

This unit does a good job in our individual test routines – standby, call, and web – but it was let down by its relatively higher power draw in video playback.

We did find the display on the Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD to be quite bright and it did average in our sunlight legibility test, meaning you will probably have to turn up the brightness when using it outdoors. It also exhibited a high amount of color accuracy, which is not uncommon for an entry-level screen.

Performance

The Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD is a mid-range smartphone that sports a narrow bezel-less display. It is priced at 30,000 PKR (around $380) and aims to take market share from competitors like the iPhone SE and Galaxy A5/A5s.

The Mate 10 Lite is powered by a 2.36 GHz Kirin 659 processor with Mali T830 MP2 GPU, paired with 4GB of RAM. This combination is more than capable of handling daily tasks, and the phone manages to deliver a very smooth experience even with heavy usage.

Its performance is also boosted by the inclusion of a ‘GPU turbo’ mode which helps prevent GPU throttling. It works Huawei Mate 10 Lite LCD by using AI paradigms to predict invariant portions of screens to cut down on rendering and power consumption. However, it is only available for a select few games and so far has been optimized for PUBG and Legends: Bang, Bang.

In terms of performance, the Mate 10 Lite is very close to the Mate 10 Pro, which features the same CPU and GPU. It’s not as powerful as the Galaxy A5 or BQ Aquaris X Pro though, which both feature faster SoCs.

GFXBench shows the Mate 10 Lite running at around 10% under load, which is very good for a SoC in this price range. This translates into a battery life of about two hours on the web, half an hour talking, and one hour of YouTube watching.

The IPS LCD screen has enough sharpness, very deep blacks, excellent contrast, and brightness. In addition, sunlight legibility is average for an LCD unit.

On the software side, the device comes with Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.1. It will get an update to EMUI 8.0 when the upcoming Oreo version of Android arrives.

This version of EMUI has some quirks, including a lack of a power saving mode and obtrusive notifications for power-intensive apps. Luckily, you can disable them by going into the Settings menu.

The Mate 10 Lite is also equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front shooter, both of which work well. The dual camera setup is a nice feature and offers a number of options such as bokeh and manual focus.
